Addressing the meeting, Sayyid Badr emphasised the importance of reaching a complete end to the war and the final and total lifting of the existing blockade. He noted that such steps would create the conditions to address humanitarian and economic impacts, bolster international efforts aimed at achieving food security, and ensure the smooth flow of essential supplies and the stability of global supply chains.

He reaffirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to supporting international cooperation and constructive dialogue, underlining Oman’s keenness to contribute to initiatives that enhance stability and sustainable development while serving the interests of the peoples of the region and the world.

He added that Oman has taken an active role during crises in supporting safe access to food supplies and fertilisers, and in contributing to ensuring the safe passage of ships and the continuity of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The meeting discussed a new political initiative aimed at supporting food security and facilitating access to fertilisers, with the participation of representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations, the GCC, and the European Union.

This initiative stands within the framework of strengthening international cooperation to face challenges associated with global food security. Participants emphasised the importance of coordinating international and regional efforts to stabilise food supply chains and ensure the sustainable provision of essential materials and resources, thereby helping to mitigate the repercussions of global crises on food security and sustainable development.

In a post on social media platform X Sayyid Badr thanked Italy, Croatia and the FAO for convening the conference.

“We need to open access for all commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, a complete end to the war, and no blockade of the Strait or any regional ports.” he added.
