His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President João Manuel Lourenço of the Republic of Angola held a bilateral meeting at the Presidential Palace in Luanda.

During the meeting, they reviewed the close relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them to deliver greater mutual benefits for their peoples. They also discussed the latest international developments and issues of common interest.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and Angola’s Minister of External Relations Téte António also gave a briefing on relations between the two countries.

An expanded session of official talks followed, attended by the official Omani delegation and Angolan officials. They discussed cooperation between the two countries in industry, mining, energy, clean energy, ports, maritime and air transport, logistics, agriculture, food security and fisheries.

The President of Angola delivered a speech in which he again welcomed His Majesty and his accompanying official delegation. He expressed the hope that the visit would fulfil further aspirations and generate additional investment.

The President said that this historic visit marks an advanced stage in implementing the expansion of the joint economic, investment and trade partnership. He noted the immediate positive results of bilateral cooperation. These include the opening of the Oman Africa Bank in Luanda this year and the entry of Omani companies into investments in Angola’s mineral mines. He also referred to discussions on future cooperation and private investment opportunities in agriculture, fisheries, mineral resources, oil and gas and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

“Distinguished guests,

“It gives us great pleasure to visit the capital of your distinguished country. We wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to us and our accompanying delegation.

“We are also pleased to express our deep satisfaction with the development and prosperity of relations between our two countries. We greatly value your personal interest and the sincere efforts made by your Government to strengthen the economic partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Angola.

“This visit aims to continue our constructive dialogue and the consultations we held with you during your visit to Oman. We are also pleased to express our satisfaction with the constructive consultations we conducted together, which culminated in the launch of a new chapter in our strategic partnership during that visit.

“This visit reaffirms our firm commitment and full support for the continued development of these relations, which have witnessed notable growth in the economic, trade and investment sectors in recent years. Several ministers responsible for these sectors are accompanying us on this visit and are keen to explore further opportunities for cooperation.

“We look forward to achieving our shared vision and doubling the volume of trade in the coming years, as its current level does not reflect the depth of our economic partnership.

“The agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during this visit, with a total value of more than USD 1.5 billion, provide a solid foundation and create sustainable opportunities for our peoples.

“We therefore urge the relevant public and private sector bodies in both countries to continue their diligent efforts to explore the opportunities offered by this partnership. They should also enable businesspeople to benefit from promising trade and investment opportunities, bringing greater prosperity, security and well being to both countries.

“We look forward with confidence and optimism to broad prospects and a promising partnership in oil, mining, food security, maritime and air transport and other fields. This will help consolidate economic diversification in both countries.

“With the signing of the Technical Cooperation Programme Agreement, we hope its positive outcomes will extend beyond the programme itself and deliver tangible benefits to the Angolan people. This programme and similar initiatives can help build close and enduring bonds between our peoples, reflecting our broader strategy for international cooperation.

“Once again, we express our sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to us. We look forward to continued exchanges of visits and constructive dialogue to deepen our friendship and strengthen the spirit of cooperation between our countries.
