The Sultanate of Oman, represented by Asyad Ports and Free Zones company (a subsidiary of the Asyad Group) and the Republic of Sudan, represented by the Sea Ports Authority, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at consolidating cooperation in the fields of ports, maritime transport and logistics services.
The MoU seeks to support economic development, boost supply chains and enhance maritime integration between the two countries.
The signing took place in a meeting between Engineer Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Saif Al Nasr Al Tijani, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport in the Republic of Sudan, who is currently visiting Oman.
The meeting discussed cooperation in the fields of transport, ports and logistics services. It also explored ways to upgrade cooperation in a manner that better serves the common interests of the two countries.
The MoU provides for the exchange of expertise in planning and developing ports and related infrastructure, in addition to organising training programmes and visits between technical and administrative staff.
The MoU was signed by Omar bin Mahmood Al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports and Free Zones, and Engineer Jilani Mohammed Jilani, Director General of the Sudan Sea Ports Corporation.
