Oman re-elected as member of UN Committee on the Rights of the Child

The Sultanate of Oman was elected for a second consecutive time as a member of the United Nations (UN) Committee on the Rights of the Child for the 2027–2031 term. The election took place during the 21st Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Oman’s membership of the Committee reflects its firm commitment to promoting and protecting children’s rights. It will also strengthen cooperation with other members to advance the Committee’s goal of protecting children’s rights worldwide and support the shared ambition of providing a safe, healthy and prosperous environment for all children.

Oman is represented on the Committee by Dr Thuwayba Al Barwani, who currently serves as its Vice Chair.
