Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister held a meeting with Anita Anand, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs on the sidelines of the third GCC-Canada joint ministerial meeting held in Manama.

The meeting addressed friendship and cooperation, following up on the outcomes of the Canadian Minister’s visit to Muscat in April 2026, particularly regarding economic and scientific partnership, expertise exchange, and the promotion of investment and tourism opportunities.

The two Ministers discussed the regional situation and the prospects for peace, addressing ongoing challenges and the repercussions of violence and escalation.

Following the meeting, Sayyid Badr said Oman and Canada share identical positions on the need to intensify diplomatic efforts. He added that they are urging all parties to reach practical, fair and workable understandings to restore normalcy, in order to  ensure the safety and freedom of navigation and maritime passages, as well as the smooth operation of supply chains linked to the economies of regional and global countries.

He affirmed the consistency of Oman’s longstanding policy in supporting good neighbourly relations, peaceful coexistence, and its commitment to international law and related bilateral and multilateral agreements.

In a post on social media platform X Sayyid Badr described the meeting  as a useful follow up Minister Anita Anand’s  recent visit to Muscat.

“We are growing Omani Canadian cooperation across the economy, science, investment, and tourism. But above all we shared our perspective of the urgent need for deescalation, dialogue and the rule of law,” he added.
