Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met in New York with Dr Anita Orbán, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary,  on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting explored opportunities to build on cooperation between the two countries in water management, the environment and renewable energy, to expand the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and to encourage greater engagement between economic institutions in order to take advantage of opportunities available in both countries.

The two Ministers also exchanged views on regional issues and the importance of keeping channels of dialogue open to support diplomatic efforts and address challenges in ways that strengthen regional and international security and stability.

Sayyid Badr also met Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

They discussed areas of cooperation and ways to develop economic and investment interests in line with the aspirations of the two countries and to make greater use of their potential.

As part of their ongoing consultations, the two Ministers discussed the latest Arab and regional developments and highlighted the need to continue addressing critical  issues through prudent, political and peaceful means, using dialogue and diplomacy to support regional and international security and stability.

The Minister also met Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

The two Ministers reviewed the development of friendly relations between the two countries and explored opportunities to expand economic, tourism and cultural cooperation. They also discussed ways to capitalise on growing connectivity and air links to encourage mutual visits and to develop partnerships.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments and the role of diplomacy and multilateral action in de-escalating tensions and strengthening respect for international law.
