The Mauritania Oman Digitalisation Forum, held under the theme “Promising Partnerships Towards a Sustainable Digital Economy,” witnessed the signing of five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Oman and Mauritania, reflecting both countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation and strengthening partnerships in technology and innovation.

The first MoU was signed between Future Cities Company (Tadoom) and Tamkeen Mauritania to implement a pilot project for an automated water meter reading system and metering infrastructure using Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) technology in an agreed geographical area covering 100 customer accounts.

Another MoU was signed between Win Services of Mauritania and Al Anka Space and Technology of Oman to explore commercial and technical cooperation opportunities in Mauritania and West Africa and, where appropriate, in Gulf markets.

The Forum also witnessed the signing of an MoU between Main Business Solutions (ASAS) of Oman and Tamkeen Mauritania to strengthen cooperation and explore partnership opportunities in digital transformation and technology services, supporting the development of innovative digital solutions for the Omani and Mauritanian markets.

In the field of capacity building, the Oman Coding Academy signed two MoUs, one with the Remote Training and Exchange Centre of Mauritania’s Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernisation and another with Takween in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The agreements cover cooperation in training and professional development, organising conferences, seminars, workshops and lectures. They also cover delivering training programmes and consultancy services, developing and implementing online training programmes and providing digital learning platforms for the public and private sectors.

The Forum and the signing of these MoUs reflect the commitment of the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to strengthening cooperation in telecommunications, information technology and the digital economy.
