Oman and EU discuss strengthening cooperation
The third meeting of senior officials from the Sultanate of Oman and the European Union took place in Brussels, Belgium.
They discussed ways to develop cooperation in areas of shared interest and common concern. These included trade, investment, fish exports, education and training and renewable green energy. They also covered environmental cooperation and tourism.
The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Munther bin Mahfouz Al Mandhari, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Europe Department, and Anna-Maria Panagiotakopoulou, Head of the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and Regional Policies Division at the European External Action Service.
Also in attendance were Rua Issa Ashraf Alzadjali, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Belgium and the European Union, along with representatives from Omani government entities and officials from the European External Action Service and the European Commission.
Ambassador Al Mandhari also met with Michael Karnitschnig, Deputy Director-General and Head of the Gulf Office at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the Middle East and Gulf.
They reviewed Oman-EU relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
