The 18th meeting of the Oman US Joint Military Commission in Washington, DC, discussed existing military cooperation and ways to strengthen and develop it in support of mutual interests.
The Omani delegation was headed by Dr Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, who is on an official visit to the United States. The US delegation was headed by Michael DiMino, Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Near East and Central Asia.
The meeting discussed a range of items on the agenda and ways to advance defence coordination.
The meeting was attended by Talal Alrahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United States, as well as senior officers and officials from Oman and the United States.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr Al Zaabi met senior officials from the US Departments of War and State. The meetings reviewed relations, ways to strengthen cooperation and issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
Dr Al Zaabi also visited Arizona, where he met state officials. The meetings explored ways to strengthen cooperation under the existing partnership programme between Oman and the State of Arizona.
