New York: Oman at memorial for Broad Peak victims

The Sultanate of Oman took part in a memorial ceremony in New York organised by the Consulate General of Nepal  for the victims of the Broad Peak tragedy in Pakistan.

Oman expressed its appreciation to the Government of Nepal for organising the humanitarian event and thanked the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its efforts in the search and rescue operation and in recovering and repatriating the victims.

Oman’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Omar Alkathiri, said Oman honours the legacy of the late Omani mountaineer Nazira bint Ahmed Al Harthy, whose life embodied an inspiring example of the achievements of Omani women.

He noted that her sporting accomplishments and community contributions helped strengthen the bonds of friendship between Oman and Nepal.
