The Sultanate of Oman participated in a joint GCC Canada ministerial meeting hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in Manama.
The Omani delegation was led by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Foreign Minister.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, current president of the Ministerial Council, and attended by GCC foreign ministers, as well as Anita Anand, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi the GCC Secretary‑General.
The Ministers discussed ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across economic, scientific and cultural fields, as well as exchanging expertise and stimulating growth and innovation opportunities for mutual benefit.
They also reviewed regional and global developments and the resulting challenges and repercussions threatening security and stability. They affirmed the importance of political and peaceful solutions through meaningful dialogue and negotiations aimed at containing and preventing escalation, while prioritising the supreme interest of peoples in security, stability and prosperity.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the Foreign Ministry’s Department for the GCC and Region and Sayyid Faisal Albusaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Commenting later on the meeting in a post on the X social media platform Sayyid Badr said the meeting between GCC Foreign Ministers and the Canadian Foreign Minister was “very cordial and constructive.”
“We discussed enhancing cooperation in economic, scientific, and cultural fields, while reviewing regional challenges and agreeing the importance of peaceful dialogue and political solutions for security, stability, and prosperity,” he added.
