Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received this evening at the Foreign Ministry, Archbishop Dr Nicolas Henry Thevenin, the Vatican’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting reviewed the friendship and mutual understanding between Oman and the Vatican, and discussed efforts to support dialogue among religions and cultures on the basis of respect and tolerance.
Sayyid Badr praised the statements issued by Pope Leo XIV calling for justice, peace, an end to wars, the rejection of violence and prioritising dialogue and peaceful solutions. He noted the importance of these calls in consolidating the values of peace and coexistence and supporting international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed the Vatican leadership’s appreciation for Oman’s wise peace policy, the steadfast principles on which it is based and its role in supporting dialogue, containing crises and limiting their repercussions. He also commended Oman’s humanitarian efforts and it civilised approach in addressing various challenges to serve the interests of all.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mundhir Al Mandhari, Head of the Ministry’s Europe Department, and various officials from both Oman and the Vatican.
