His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued Royal Decree No. 98/2026 on amending some provisions of the Shura Council’s Members Election Law.

Article 1 stipulates that a new article, numbered (4-bis), shall be added to the Shura Council’s Members Election Law promulgated by Royal decree No. 54/2023. The new article reads as follows:

“The Minister shall issue a decision specifying the regulations and procedures for the candidacy of a woman from each governorate for the membership designated to women”.

Article 2 cancels all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.

Article 3 says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the day following its date of publishing.
