Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met with António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the UN Headquarters in New York.

During the meeting, the Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Secretary-General, along with His Majesty’s best wishes for success in carrying out his responsibilities and international and humanitarian efforts.

The Secretary-General asked the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to His Majesty, and his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Omani people.

The Secretary-General expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of Oman to facilitate dialogue and bridge differences. He commended Oman’s approach of wisdom and balance, its contribution to supporting United Nations efforts and advancing prospects for the peaceful settlement of disputes, as well as its ongoing humanitarian efforts.

The meeting addressed regional and international developments and ways to expand the scope for diplomatic action to contain crises and mitigate their repercussions. The discussions also highlighted the priority of protecting civilians and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those affected.

They also discussed strengthening cooperation between Oman and the United Nations, and coordinating efforts to build trust and develop sustainable understandings that support regional security and provide a firmer foundation for peace.
