Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met with Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The meeting reviewed the existing partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and UNICEF, the priorities of the 2026–2030 cooperation programme, and opportunities to exchange expertise in support of children’s growth, development and the enhancement of services provided to them. Both also highlighted the importance of partnership with private-sector institutions and encouraging their active participation in humanitarian programmes and related industries.

They also discussed the humanitarian situation of children affected by conflict, particularly in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, Yemen and Syria, as well as other regions. They underlined the need for solidarity with affected children, safe and sustainable access to humanitarian assistance, continued healthcare and education, and the provision of the necessary protection to safeguard their rights, dignity and future.
