The Sultanate of Oman participated in a number of meetings and events held at the United Nations headquarters in New York during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Oman took part in a high-level ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in its capacity as chair of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza, the Kingdom of Norway and the European Union.

Oman was represented at the meeting by Counsellor Khalid bin Saleh Alrabkhi, Deputy Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations in New York.

The meeting, held two years after the launch of the alliance, discussed developments in the Palestinian issue and international efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving peace in the Middle East. It also reviewed the implementation of the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.  It explored ways to strengthen international efforts and translate them into practical steps and proposals in the coming period.

Participants highlighted the importance of continuing coordinated international action to support the implementation of the two-state solution, contributing to a just, lasting and comprehensive peace and to security and stability in the region.

Oman also participated in the annual ministerial coordination meeting of the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The meeting was chaired by Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and Chair of the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers.

Oman was represented by Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Alqutbi, Head of the Foreign Ministry’s International Organisations Department, accompanied by a number of officials.

The meeting discussed developments in the Palestinian issue and the issues and challenges facing the Islamic world, as well as ways to strengthen joint Islamic action and develop mechanisms for cooperation and coordination among member states.

The meeting also addressed the OIC’s vision for reform and institutional development and ways to strengthen its role in addressing political, economic and development issues.

Oman also participated in a high-level event entitled “Resetting Humanitarian Action and Responsible Transitions: Safeguarding Resilience and Principled Action”.

The gathering discussed the transformations taking place within the international humanitarian system and ways to develop crisis response mechanisms to make them faster, more effective and more responsive to needs. It also addressed strengthening national and local leadership, ensuring the sustainability of humanitarian action and linking it to long-term recovery and development.

Discussions also focused on the importance of a responsible transition from emergency humanitarian response to nationally led recovery by supporting institutions, essential services and livelihoods and strengthening national capacities. These efforts aim to build resilience and reduce long-term dependence on humanitarian assistance while upholding the principles of protection and humanitarian action.

The event was co-organised by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), alongside international partners.

The event was attended by Ambassador Dr Adnan Alazri, Deputy Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations for Maritime Affairs, accompanied by officials and specialists.
