At the invitation of Professor Dr Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), Minister Plenipotentiary Abdullah bin Tahir Ba Omar, Deputy Head of the Sultanate of Oman’s Mission to Tunisia, attended the opening of a conference entitled “Palestinian Childhood under Israeli Occupation: Monitoring Educational and Cultural Violations and Strengthening Mechanisms for Protection and Resilience” on September 14, 2026, at the organisation’s headquarters in Tunis.
The Conference was organised in partnership with the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science and in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Tunisia.
Participants included the Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education, the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories at the League of Arab States and the UN Resident Coordinator in Tunisia. A number of Ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Tunisia also attended, alongside heads of Arab, regional and international organisations and civil society institutions supporting children’s rights and Palestinian rights.
