Minister receives Somali counterpart

Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received this evening at the Ministry, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, during his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

The Ministers reviewed the course of relations between the two brotherly countries and discussed ways to develop these across various fields in order to strengthen the existing partnership and support shared interests. They also discussed the latest developments in the region and the Horn of Africa, highlighting the importance of supporting regional and international efforts aimed at promoting security, stability and development.

Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman’s firm position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the will of its people and Oman’s non recognition of any entities outside the framework of the Somali state.

The Somali Foreign Minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Oman’s constructive diplomatic role and its continued efforts to support initiatives aimed at strengthening security and stability, fostering reconciliation and promoting dialogue among all parties.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Omar Al Marhoon, Head of the Ministry’s Arab Department; Bashir Hassan Hagi, Somalia’s Ambassador to Oman and officials from both countries.
