His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received at Al Barakah Palace today General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, during his private fraternal visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

His Majesty welcomed the guest, wishing him success in carrying out his national responsibilities to realise further aspirations of security, stability and prosperity for the Sudanese people.

The guest expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty for the ongoing efforts undertaken by Oman under His Majesty’s leadership to support endeavours aimed at resolving the conflict in Sudan through dialogue and peaceful means, enhancing national unity, and prioritising the national interest.

The meeting addressed the cordial and close ties binding the two countries, which are built upon firm foundations of mutual respect and constructive cooperation. Both Oman and Sudan affirmed the importance of boosting areas of partnership in a manner that aligns with the developmental aspirations.

From Oman, the meeting was attended by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister; and Dr Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office.

From Sudan, the meeting was attended by Muhi al-Din Salem Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director General of the General Intelligence Service; and Essam Awad Ahmed Metwally, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the Sultanate of Oman.

Earlier in the day the guest was received at the Royal Airport by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister; Sheikh Faisal bin Omar Al Marhoon, Head of the Arab Department at the Foreign Ministry and members of the Sudanese Embassy in Muscat. The same dignitaries saw the guest and his delegation off when he departed.

In a post on the social media platform X, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi said the meeting brought together “hearts before interests,”reflecting the authenticity of the depth of longstanding relations and mutual respect between the two brotherly peoples.

He added that it embodied shared solidarity in support of the wellbeing of both countries and aimed to achieve further benefits, while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and fruitful cooperation.

Sayyid Badr also noted that the meeting affirmed the supreme interests of the brotherly Sudanese people in achieving peace, security, prosperity and harmony for all.
