The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism signed an agreement with Sourah Al Qurum Real Estate L.L.C. to develop an integrated tourism complex project in the Al Qurum area of the Wilayat of Bausher in Muscat Governorate. The project will cover an area of approximately 165,000 square metres with an estimated cost of around 230 million Omani rials.
Under the agreement, the project will be implemented in phases over a period of 15 years. It includes the construction of two four star hotels with a capacity of more than 400 hotel units, in addition to integrated recreational facilities. These will include an indoor entertainment hall featuring laser games, trampoline facilities, rock climbing and various sports courts, as well as retail outlets and residential units available for freehold ownership.
The agreement was signed by Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and on behalf of the Sourah Al Qurum Real Estate L.L.C. by Engineer Khaled Khudair Mushan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alargan International Real Estate Company, and authorised to sign by Sourah Al Qurum Real Estate Company.
Engineer Khaled Khudair Mushan explained that this project is characterised by its distinguished location in Muscat, indicating that the project will focus on the tourism aspect, and will also take into account reducing carbon emissions and creating many green spaces.
For his part, Dr Rashid bin Saleh Al Hinai, Director General of Planning at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, pointed out that this project is one supporting investment in the tourism sector and added value in Muscat Governorate as an integrated tourist complex. The Director General pointed out that the project, after its completion, will increase the number of hotel rooms in Muscat Governorate and will enhance job opportunities for Omanis, adding that the project allows free ownership for Omanis and non-Omanis.
The signing of this agreement confirms the commitment of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to develop the infrastructure of the tourism sector, enhance the attractiveness of tourism destinations, support local content, and create sustainable job opportunities, contributing to achieving the targets of the tourism sector and enhancing its contribution to the national economy.
