The Sultanate of Oman participated in the coordination meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Oman was represented at the meeting by Omar Said Omar Alkathiri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Chair of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council, with the participation of representatives of GCC member states and Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

During the meeting they discussed key issues of common interest and coordinated positions on matters to be addressed during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Participants also prepared for joint ministerial meetings between the GCC and several countries and international groups.

The Ministerial Council exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and their implications for regional security and stability. They also discussed ways to strengthen joint Gulf coordination and cooperation in addressing current issues and challenges.
