His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in the Republic of Botswana this evening for a two-day state visit.
Upon His Majesty’s arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in the capital, Gaborone, he was received by President Duma Gideon Boko, who welcomed His Majesty and his accompanying official delegation. A 21-gun salute was fired in honour of His Majesty.
His Majesty and the President Boko then proceeded to the platform of honour, where the Omani Royal Anthem and Botswana’s national anthem were played, followed by His Majesty inspecting the guard of honour.
His Majesty then greeted senior Botswana officials, while the President Boko greeted members of His Majesty’s official delegation.
A performance of traditional Botswana arts was then presented to welcome and celebrate His Majesty’s visit.
His Majesty, accompanied by the President of Botswana, then departed for the Presidential Palace.
