Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government for Middle East Affairs.
The meeting reviewed the strong relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China. It reaffirmed a commitment to building on the progress achieved through joint partnerships and projects over recent years.
The meeting also addressed regional and international developments, along with the challenges and implications arising from them, expressing both countries’ support for dialogue and diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability and addressing the causes of tension and conflict.
The meeting also underscored the importance of adhering to international law and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, while advancing political processes capable of resolving crises through peaceful and constructive means and ensuring the freedom and safety of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs; Liu Jian, China’s Ambassador to Oman, as well as various officials from both countries.
Commenting later in a post on the X social media platform, Sayyid Badr described his discussions with the Chinese Special Envoy as “fruitful”. He added that the meeting reaffirmed Oman’s support for China’s constructive role in advancing dialogue, stability, and peace in the region.
