Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met with Dr Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, alongside the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting the Ministers discussed efforts to bridge divisions in regional relations and current developments in the Middle East and the Gulf.

They highlighted the importance of continuing diplomatic engagement and contacts to develop approaches that help build confidence and reach consensual and practical solutions to outstanding issues, while taking into account the interests of all parties and supporting security and stability in the region.

The Ministers also discussed efforts related to the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring freedom of passage, in support of international trade and energy supplies.
