Political Undersecretary meets with UNRWA

The Undersecretary of the Ministry for Political Affairs, meets with the Acting Commissioner-General of UNRWA

Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, met Christian Saunders, Acting Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The meeting took place on the sidelines of his participation in the Arab League Council meeting at ministerial level, held at the headquarters of the League’s General Secretariat in Cairo.

During the meeting, they discussed current humanitarian developments in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the operational and financial challenges facing the UN agency. They also explored ways to strengthen cooperation to ensure the continued provision of essential services to Palestinian refugees.

Sheikh Khalifa reaffirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. He highlighted UNRWA’s vital role in supporting humanitarian stability in the region and the need for concerted Arab and international efforts to provide the agency with the necessary support, enabling it to carry out its duties without obstruction.

Christian Saunders expressed his deep appreciation for Oman’s efforts and continued support for humanitarian causes. He commended its active role in supporting United Nations programmes and relief efforts for the Palestinian people.
