Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi held a telephone call this evening with Dr Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The call reviewed the outcome of the visit to Oman by Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his accompanying delegation.It also discussed understandings on a joint cooperation mechanism to achieve the objectives of the US Iran Memorandum of Understanding regarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Ministers also discussed related interim arrangements in line with international law and respect for the sovereignty of states.

The Ministers welcomed the Iranian delegation’s visit to Muscat and the constructive talks held. They underlined the importance of continuing consultation and following up on issues of common interest through diplomatic channels, in a way that enhances ongoing cooperation between the two countries.
