His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, accompanied by Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at Al Baraka Palace.

At the outset of the meeting, the guest conveyed the greetings of Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his best wishes to His Majesty and the Omani people for continued progress and prosperity. He expressed his country’s appreciation, at the leadership, government and people levels, for the wise approach pursued by Oman and its constructive role, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, in supporting dialogue, reducing tensions and promoting peace and stability in the region.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik asked the guest to convey his greetings to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and to Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with his sincere wishes to the Iranian leadership and people for continued security, stability and prosperity.

The meeting also addressed developments in the Iranian-American negotiations. His Majesty listened to a briefing from the Iranian delegation on the various tracks of the talks. His Majesty expressed his support and best wishes for the negotiations to succeed and reach a peaceful and final settlement of all outstanding issues, foremost among them the resumption, smooth flow and safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear file and other related issues and challenges.

The meeting was attended from Oman by Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, and the Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador at large, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Hinai. From Iran, the meeting was attended by Mousa Farhang, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Oman, and various officials.
