The 11th session of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee was held in Al Jabal Alakhdar, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The session was held under the chairmanship of Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
The session reviewed the deep-rooted fraternal relations between Oman and Kuwait, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in priority fields to serve common interests, embodying the aspirations of the wise leaderships of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait.
In his speech, Sayyid Badr said that the convening of this session implements the supreme directives of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries, calling for deepening cooperation, particularly in the economic, commercial, cultural, and scientific fields, and the exchange of expertise and experience to achieve greater integration and partnership between Oman and Kuwait.
The Minister said that the regular convening of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee reflects the attention and care it receives from the leaderships of both countries, and embodies a joint commitment to strengthening its role as an effective institutional framework to propel cooperative relations toward more advanced and comprehensive levels.
Sheikh Jarrah Al Sabah, said that the two countries’ celebration this year of the 55th anniversary of Oman-Kuwait diplomatic relations reflects the development and growth of these relations, as an extension of close and deep-rooted historical bonds, and the common aspirations and characteristics the two nations hold, based on unity of destiny, common goals, and identical visions.
The two Ministers affirmed that Oman-Kuwait relations represent a model of sincere fraternal relations among the countries of the GCC, due to deep-rooted historical ties, bonds of appreciation, mutual respect, and the constructive cooperation they are based upon, thus supporting the progress of joint Gulf action and strengthening the GCC system.
At the conclusion of the Committee’s proceedings, Sayyid Badr and Sheikh Jarrah Al Sabah, signed the minutes of the meeting of the 11th session.
They also signed a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Oman and the Government of the Kuwait in the field of cybersecurity, and an executive programme in the field of standardisation.
The meeting of the committee was attended from Oman by Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the Ministry’s GCC Department; Dr Saleh Amer Alkharusi, Oman’s Ambassador to Kuwait, and various Foreign Ministry officials
From Kuwait, the meeting was attended by Hamad Rashed Al Marri, Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC Affairs; Dr Mohammad Nasser Al Hajri, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Oman, and officials from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
Commenting later on the X social media platform , Sayyid Badr described his meeting with Sheikh Al Sabah, as “distinctive and high quality.” He added that the 11th session of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee included discussion of bilateral cooperation programmes and a joint action plan for the future which reflected “the depth of the existing fraternal relations and the aligned visions between the two brotherly countries.”
