Spain: Oman at Seafood Expo in Barcelona

The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 32nd  Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, with a national pavilion bringing together several government entities and private sector companies, including eight Omani factories specialising in fish products, in strategic partnership with Sohar International Bank.

Engineer Yaqoub bin Khalfan Albusaidi, Undersecretary for Fisheries, at the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources said the unified participation reflects national integration. He pointed to the growth of the fisheries sector in Oman, with production reaching around 900,000 tonnes in 2024, valued at OMR 580 million. Omani products are exported to more than 84 countries, with 110 certified factories ensuring quality control.

He added that by taking part Oman aims to strengthen the global presence of its products, open new investment and export opportunities and promote the fisheries industries sector, in support of economic diversification and Oman Vision 2040.

Oman’s presence in this international exhibition also provides an opportunity to explore the latest technologies in the seafood sector, and to enhance the sector’s global competitiveness.
