Under the patronage of Minister of Trade Dr Atheer Dawood Al Ghurairi, the 49th Baghdad International Fair 2026 was inaugurated in the capital Baghdad. The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion saw active participation from a large number of Omani companies, under the auspices of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Foreign Ministers discussed regional developments, including ways to reduce and contain tension.

The Royal Decrees ratify agreements between Oman and the Governments of Iraq, Indonesia and the United Kingdom.

Sheikh Mahmoud Alkharousi, Oman’s Ambassador to Iraq, took part in a ceremony held in Baghdad to mark the conclusion of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) at the end of this year. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani and attended by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

The Royal Decree ratifies the agreement between Oman and Iraq on specified mutual visa waivers.

193 Omani citizens were successfully evacuated from Bandar Abbas and 155 were flown from Iraq to Oman.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik sent a written message to President Dr Abdul Latif Rashid of the Republic of Iraq regarding the relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples, and ways to strengthen them in various fields. The message was delivered in Baghdad by Ambassador Sheikh Mahmoud Alkharousi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman

The Sultanate of Oman participated in the Fourth Arab Media Conference, hosted in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, Oman’s Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, took part in the conference on behalf of Mohammed Albalushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. The Conference explored the role of the media in addressing climate change.

Oman will continue to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy in resolving all issues and disputes.

The Baghdad Declaration highlighted Iraq’s launch of the Arab Fund to Support Recovery and Reconstruction.

His Higness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, led Oman’s delegation to the Summit on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

A joint statement calls on Iraq to respect Kuwait’s sovereignty and to complete the delimitation of maritime boundaries.

The meeting also reviewed regional and international developments.

Ambassador Sheikh Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, met with Engineer Mustafa Ati Hassan, Chairman of Iraq’s Military Industrialization Authority (MIA) at the International Defence Exhibition in Iraq (IQDEX). During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of military manufacturing, defence technologies, and cybersecurity.

The agreement covers preparation, equipping and initial operation of the airport.
