The Sultanate of Oman participated in the Fourth Arab Media Conference, hosted in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, Oman’s Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, took part in the conference on behalf of Mohammed Albalushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. The Conference explored the role of the media in addressing climate change.

Oman will continue to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy in resolving all issues and disputes.

The Baghdad Declaration highlighted Iraq’s launch of the Arab Fund to Support Recovery and Reconstruction.

His Higness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, led Oman’s delegation to the Summit on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

A joint statement calls on Iraq to respect Kuwait’s sovereignty and to complete the delimitation of maritime boundaries.

The meeting also reviewed regional and international developments.

Ambassador Sheikh Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, met with Engineer Mustafa Ati Hassan, Chairman of Iraq’s Military Industrialization Authority (MIA) at the International Defence Exhibition in Iraq (IQDEX). During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of military manufacturing, defence technologies, and cybersecurity.

The agreement covers preparation, equipping and initial operation of the airport.

They discussed economy and trade, and ways to enhance partnerships and to address regional economic challenges.

The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr Shakwan Abdullah Ahmed, received in his office in Baghdad, Ambassador Sheikh Mahmoud bin Muhanna Alkharousi. The meeting discussed relations between Oman and Iraq, and ways to enhance cooperation mechanisms between the two countries. Agreements to strengthen political and diplomatic cooperation were signed at the meeting.

The two Ministers praised the deep and historic relations between Oman and Iraq.

The message was delivered by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi during a visit to Baghdad.

The Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
