Researcher and senior lecturer
Dhofar, Oman
Dr Amir specialises in Omani languages and the heritage of Dhofar. He is the first Omani to conduct a geographical classification of dialect groups in Oman, and hopes that his documentation of the country’s diversity will raise awareness of the importance of tributaries of the Arabic language.
Dr Amir’s experience includes leading projects on the cultural heritage of frankincense, collaborating with academics in France and the UK to research modern South Arabian languages, and presenting his work at conferences in Paris, Granada, Kutaisi, Malta, and Riyadh.
