Ambassador Omar Alkathiri

Ambassador Omar was appointed Permanent Representative of Oman to the UN in 2024. He previously served as Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, Permanent Representative to the World Tourism Organisation, and Chargé d’Affaires in the US and Brazil. From 2005 to 2010, he oversaw political and human rights affairs at Oman’s Permanent Mission to the UN.

The Permanent Mission is the official representative of Oman to the UN system, its principal organs and its subsidiary bodies. It spreads Oman’s foreign policy by calling for peace, security and dialogue, strengthening good neighbourly relations, and promoting cooperation and peaceful coexistence between peoples and states.
