Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, in Muscat.

The meeting reviewed the longstanding historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and India and explored ways to advance the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries, particularly in trade, investment, energy, logistics and advanced technologies.

The Ministers also discussed strengthening cooperation between businesses in both countries and encouraging high value partnerships and reciprocal investment to serve mutual interests and capitalise on emerging economic opportunities.

The Ministers also exchanged views on current regional and international developments, including issues related to shipping and maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for international trade, energy supplies and global supply chains.

Both Ministers affirmed the importance of continuing coordination and consultations on these developments and supporting efforts to promote understanding and cooperation among all parties.

They also underscored the need to mitigate the consequences of the current situation in a manner consistent with international law and mindful of the interests of the countries in the region.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Hinai; Ambassador at large, Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the Ministry’s Department for the GCC and Region; Prashant Pise, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Oman and other officials from both countries.

In a post on the X social media platform Sayyid Badr said he had held an important discussion with the Indian Foreign Minister on intensive diplomacy  to secure freedom of navigation in Strait of Hormuz and that Oman is grateful for India’s support.

“Longstanding maritime ties between Oman and India have connected our peoples for centuries and continue to provide a strong foundation for our partnership,” he added.
