The “Pioneers of Omani Fine Art” exhibition was opened in the Russian capital, Moscow, in the first cooperation between the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian State Tretyakov Museum, reflecting the strength of cultural relations between the two countries.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Hamoud bin Salem Altowaiya, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation, along with Russian officials, artists and individuals interested in cultural affairs. In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of the event in strengthening cultural dialogue between the two friendly countries and showcasing the Oman’s rich artistic and civilisational heritage.
The exhibition marks the first museum presentation of Omani art in the Russia and the Eurasian region. It offers a comprehensive overview of the development of the visual arts movement in the Sultanate of Oman from the mid twentieth century to its growing presence on the international art scene.
The exhibition features works by leading pioneers of Omani art who helped shape the features of the modern artistic experience. It reflects the diversity of artistic schools and trends and highlights the aesthetic and intellectual dimensions associated with Omani cultural identity.
The organisation of the exhibition forms part of the efforts of the National Museum of Oman to document and promote Oman’s artistic heritage and to build bridges of cultural cooperation with international institutions, contributing to the wider global presence of Omani arts.
