Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced the expansion of its international network through the launch of new direct weekly flights to the Russian city of Sochi.
The new service will open new horizons for travel and tourism movement between the two nations. The launch of this new route strengthens Oman Air’s growing network to Russia in response to the increasing demand from Russian travellers wishing to visit the Sultanate of Oman.
Flights are scheduled to commence on July 2, 2026, and will operate year-round, providing travellers with a direct link to one of Russia’s most prominent leisure destinations overlooking the Black Sea. The Muscat–Sochi flights will be operated using Boeing 737-8 aircraft, offering a distinguished, comfortable travel experience, with full onboard services.
Oman Air currently operates a direct service between Moscow and Muscat with up to 11 flights per week, in addition to charter flights between Moscow and Salalah which were launched in December 2025. This forms part of the continuous expansion of the airline’s network, which has seen the launch of several new routes over the past months, reflecting the company’s success in increasing the number of passengers arriving directly in Oman. Oman Air is committed to consolidating Oman’s position as a primary destination, in order to stimulate tourism revenues and to support related sectors.
Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, said that the company is developing its network by identifying carefully researched, strategic opportunities to link Oman with new and emerging destinations. He added that the launch of the Sochi route reinforces the airline’s position as a leading carrier that offers a distinguished travel experience in prominent tourism and business markets.
He said that the new route, which will operate weekly, will support the growth of inbound tourism to Oman. Russia is considered a promising market for tourism Oman. The improved aerial connectivity will facilitate the flow of visitors and consolidate bilateral economic relations, he added.
