Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met Roberto Velasco Álvarez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen ties between the two countries, develop economic, tourism and cultural cooperation, and facilitate mutual visits to support business activity.

The two Ministers also discussed establishing a broader framework for cooperation through additional agreements and memoranda of understanding to be concluded by the two countries in the coming period.

The two Ministers agreed to strengthen political consultations and cooperation in international forums.

They also exchanged views on current developments and discussed the importance of upholding international law and resolving disputes through peaceful means, while respecting the sovereignty and independence of states.

Sayyid Badr also met Osman Saleh Mohammed, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea.

The two Ministers agreed to maintain engagement between the relevant authorities in both countries to develop trade and investment cooperation and to explore partnership opportunities in food security, fisheries and logistics.

They also discussed how to encourage private-sector initiatives to deliver further mutual economic benefits.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, with an exchange of views on ways to support regional stability, address the causes of tensions through direct dialogue among regional parties and to limit foreign interference.
