The seventh meeting of the heads of the Oman Saudi Coordination Committee for Economy, Trade and Industry, operating under the Oman Saudi Coordination Council, was held in Salalah.

Officials and representatives of relevant entities took part in the meeting, which aimed to strengthen economic, trade and industrial integration and develop joint partnerships and initiatives.

Engineer Ghalib bin Said Al Maamari, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion  said the historic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation.

He said the meeting aimed to assess initiatives, review achievements and identify priorities to move projects and programmes from ideas to implementation through a clear approach that delivers tangible added value.

Engineer Rakan Trabzoni, Saudi Arabia’s Vice Minister of Economy and Planning for International Economic Affairs and the Saudi chair of the Coordination Committee, said the meeting built on continuing efforts under the Oman Saudi Coordination Council. These efforts have helped advance initiatives and support greater integration, he added.

He highlighted the rapid growth in cooperation, the development of high quality partnerships, streamlined customs procedures and improvements to joint logistics infrastructure, which have contributed to increased trade and sustainable development.

The meeting witnessed the signing of an executive programme to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between Oman’s Ministry of Economy and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning in the fields of economy and planning for 2026–2028. The programme aims to strengthen institutional cooperation and coordination in economic affairs and planning.

The meeting reviewed progress in implementing joint initiatives and discussed recommendations and next steps to accelerate implementation and address challenges.

The discussions also explored ways to advance mutual interests, facilitate the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding and develop proposals to expand cooperation and deepen economic relations.
