Oman has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and international partners, in support of the organisation’s efforts to build a more just, sustainable and equitable future for every child.

The statement was delivered by Omar Said Omar Alkathiri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York, at the second regular session of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2026, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Oman expressed its appreciation to the Republic of Estonia for its presidency of the UNICEF Executive Board in 2026. It also conveyed its appreciation to the UNICEF Executive Director and commended the efforts of the organisation’s staff in protecting children’s rights and promoting their wellbeing, particularly amid growing humanitarian and development challenges.

Oman noted that this session holds particular significance as it is the final session in which it is participating as a member of the UNICEF Executive Board and as Vice-President of the Board, representing the Asia-Pacific Group in 2026. Oman expressed its pride in the trust placed in it by Member States and in the opportunity provided by its membership to contribute to strengthening consensus and constructive dialogue.
