Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, received Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the exchange of fraternal visits between the two countries.
The two Ministers discussed the strong fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Saudi Arabia, which continue to witness steady growth across various spheres of cooperation.
They also reviewed regional and political matters of mutual interest, along with ways to enhance coordination regarding these matters.
After the Ministers’ meeting, an expanded talks session was convened with the participation of Ministers and senior officials from both countries.
The discussions addressed various aspects of cooperation, including the economic, investment and logistic fields. The discussions also explored opportunities for developing cooperation to support integration, to enhance the smooth flow of trade and to open broader horizons for practical partnership at both the bilateral and regional levels, as well as within the framework of Gulf cooperation among the GCC member states.
The meeting also addressed partnership initiatives within the framework of the Joint Omani-Saudi Coordination Council, building upon the advantages on offer in both countries, the shared objectives between Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030, and the role of the private sector in developing partnership working.
In the context of regional and international issues, the meeting discussed developments pertaining to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasising the strategic importance of this waterway to the stability of international trade and energy security.
It underscored the imperative of prioritising de-escalation, avoiding any steps that could expand the scope of risks, and working through diplomatic channels to identify practical pathways that alleviate tensions and preserve the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.
Participants in the expanded talks session from the Omani side included: Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce; Industry and Investment Promotion; Foreign Ministry Ambassador at large, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Hinai; Sheikh Khalid Almuslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Mohsen bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals
Participants from the Saudi side included: Dr Rumaih bin Mohammed Al Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services; Dr Saud bin Mohammed Al Sati; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Engineer Majid Al Otaibi, Deputy Minister of Energy for Technical and Regulatory Affairs for Petroleum and Gas; Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, Saudi Ambassador to Oman, along with senior officials from both countries.
