Oman at GCC joint ministerial meeting with international and Arab partners

The Sultanate of Oman participated in a joint ministerial meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The meetings, held via video conference, were chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain with the participation of the Secretary General of the GCC.

Oman’s delegation was led by Sheikh Abdulaziz Alhinai, the Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador at large.

The meetings addressed developments in the region and their repercussions on regional security and stability. The Ministers highlighted the importance of reducing military escalation and strengthening diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis in a manner that preserves security and stability in the region.

The Ministers also renewed the firm support of the GCC states on the Palestinian issue. They called for the protection of the Palestinian people, an end to the attacks and for support for international efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

Sheikh Abdulaziz expressed Oman’s pride in the historic relations that link Oman with these sisterly and friendly countries. He noted the importance of these meetings in strengthening cooperation and advancing strategic partnerships across various fields to support mutual interests and contribute to development and stability in the region.

He also conveyed Oman’s condemnation of the Israeli and American attacks on Iranian territory as well as its rejection of all assaults and attacks targeting countries in the region. He reaffirmed Oman’s firm rejection of targeting the territories of GCC states and Arab countries and called for diplomacy as the only path capable of addressing the root causes of the crisis.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the Ministry’s Department for the GCC and region, along with a number of officials from the Foreign Ministry.
