Foreign Ministry condemns and denounces remarks by the United States Ambassador to Israel

22 February 2026

The Foreign Ministries of the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Türkiye, the Syrian Arab Republic, the State of Palestine, the State of Kuwait and the Lebanese Republic, along with the Secretariats of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, issued a joint statement expressing strong condemnation and deep concern over remarks made by the Ambassador of the United States to Israel. The comments suggested acceptance of Israel exercising control over territories belonging to Arab states, including the occupied West Bank.

The Ministries affirm their countries’ categorical rejection of such serious and provocative statements. They state that the remarks represent a clear violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations and pose a grave threat to regional security and stability.

The Ministries state that these comments directly contradict the vision put forward by United States President Donald Trump as well as the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which is based on containing escalation and creating a political horizon for a comprehensive settlement that ensures the Palestinian people can establish their independent state.

They state that this vision is grounded in promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence and warn that any statements seeking to legitimise control over the land of others, undermine these goals, fuel tensions and incite, rather than contributing to peace.

The Ministries reiterate that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory or any other occupied Arab lands. They also express full rejection of any attempts to annex the West Bank or separate it from the Gaza Strip and strong opposition to the expansion of settlement activities in occupied Palestinian territory, as well as any threat to the sovereignty of Arab states.

The Ministries warn that continued expansionist policies and illegal measures pursued by Israel will only ignite further violence and conflict in the region and undermine the prospects for peace. They call for an end to such inflammatory statements and reaffirm their countries’ firm commitment to the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self determination and to the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, and to ending the occupation of all Arab territories.
