Oman and Eritrea discuss enhancing commercial and investment cooperation
Qais Mohammed Alyousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, received Eritrea’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Nasruddin Ali Bakhit, who is on a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
During the visit, the Eritrean minister is meeting officials from the public and private sectors to discuss ways of developing economic relations between Oman and Eritrea.
The Ministers reviewed existing cooperation in commercial, industrial and investment sectors. They discussed opportunities for establishing partnerships in promising sectors, including mining, converting industries, tourism, food security and logistic services. They also explored ways to expand cooperation between private sector establishments in the two countries.
They also discussed cooperation in the fields of energy, minerals, livestock and fisheries, in addition to ways of creating direct channels for facilitating trade and imports. They discussed the possibility of holding an Omani-Eritrean businessmen’s forum to review joint investment in productive sectors.
The Minister of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion said that the visit constitutes a step forward to consolidate economic relations and explore new areas of cooperation that would serve the two countries’ common interests within the objectives set for Oman Vision 2040.
As part of its efforts to diversify markets and attract quality investments, the Ministry has initiated measures to support economic partnerships with African countries, the Minister said.
During his visit, the Eritrean Minister of Trade and Industry will have a close look at Oman's experience in improving the business environment, developing industrial investments and expanding logistic and export services.
