14 September 2025

The Sultanate of Oman participated in the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, the State of Qatar.

The meeting addressed the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar, which targeted the residential headquarters of several Hamas leaders.

The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs.

The meeting discussed the Israeli attack and its serious repercussions on regional security. Participants aimed to formulate a unified Arab and Islamic position on these rapid developments to strengthen solidarity and protect security and stability in the region.

The meeting also discussed a draft statement on the Israeli attack on Qatar to be presented to the heads of Arab and Islamic states at the summit, which will be held on Monday.

In his speech, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, stated that the aggression against Qatar's sovereignty is a blatant violation of international conventions and diplomatic and moral norms. He said that the international community's failure to hold Israel accountable has encouraged it to continue its actions. He added that the region will not enjoy security and peace until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights and called on the international community to stop using double standards.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, said that the Israeli aggression on Qatar was treacherous, cowardly, and foolish, and that the shameful international silence on these crimes encourages Israel to commit more.

Hussein Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed solidarity with Qatar following the criminal Israeli aggression and stressed the need for decisive action against Israel.

The meeting was attended by Abdullah Alrahbi, Oman's Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Sheikh Faisal Almarhoon, Head of the Arab Department at the Foreign Ministry and a number of officials from the Foreign Ministry.
