Under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, an event was held to mark 400 years of maritime ties between Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The event was organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Muscat in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry. It highlighted the depth of the historical ties and the maritime and cultural heritage shaped by centuries of trade and shared relations between the two friendly countries.

In his address, Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy praised the strength of Omani–Dutch relations, noting that the long-standing ties between the two countries have helped build a growing partnership that continues to advance across various fields.

Ambassador Maartje Peters, the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ Ambassador to Oman, reviewed the early stages of the relationship. She noted that the first Dutch ship arrived in Muscat in 1624, marking the starting point of a partnership that has continued to grow to the present day.

The event was attended by officials, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps along with prominent social figures.
