Minister meets Azerbaijani counterpart

Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the Foreign Ministry in Muscat.

The two Ministers held an official session of talks that explored ways to enhance relations between the two friendly countries in the political, economic, cultural and educational fields. They also reviewed regional and international developments of mutual interest, underlining the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to promote regional security, stability and development.

The two Ministers affirmed their countries’ keenness to expand cooperation and partnership across various fields and to diversify their shared interests for mutual benefit, in addition to continuing regular consultations on a range of regional and global issues and challenges.

The meeting also witnessed the signing of an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports, facilitating the movement of official passport holders between the two countries. A Memorandum of Understanding on consular cooperation was also signed to strengthen coordination on matters related to citizens’ affairs and to develop frameworks for consular collaboration.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ambassador Ahmed bin Hashil Al Maskari, Head of the Department for the GCC and Region; and Rashad Ismailov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Oman, along with several officials from both delegations.
