His Majesty hold talks with Lebanese President

Joint Omani-Lebanese statement

10 December 2025

The following is the joint statement issued by the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Lebanon on the occasion of the official visit of General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic to Oman.

“In affirmation of the profound historical and fraternal ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Lebanese Republic, their leaderships and peoples, and in mutual dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing the values of Arab solidarity, General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, conducted an official state visit to the Sultanate of Oman from December 9 to 10, 2025, as the honoured guest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

“The two leaders convened an official session of talks to review the enduring bilateral partnership. They affirmed their joint determination to expand the scope of cooperation and coordination across political, economic, investment, banking, tourism, transport, and logistical domains, in a manner that benefits both nations and their peoples. The leaders also commended the positive contributions of the Lebanese community residing in Oman.

“They directed relevant authorities to undertake early preparations for convening the inaugural session of the Oman-Lebanon Joint Committee, chaired by the two Foreign Ministers in Muscat, to work toward finalising new agreements and memoranda of understanding. These instruments are intended to broaden bilateral cooperation programmes and enhance trade, cultural, and scientific exchanges, with an emphasis on empowering the private sector to capitalise on joint investment and development opportunities for shared prosperity.

“On regional developments, both Oman and Lebanon voiced their deep concern over continued Israeli violations against Lebanese territory and the occupation of Arab lands, which constitute a flagrant breach of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and relevant international legitimacy resolutions. They called for an immediate halt to these aggressions and a full withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese and Arab territories, while endorsing international efforts to de-escalate tensions, restore stability, and facilitate the return of displaced persons and reconstruction.

“Oman reiterated its steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and for strengthening Lebanese state institutions—especially the Lebanese Armed Forces and legitimate security agencies. It also affirmed support for the economic, financial, and administrative reforms being pursued under Lebanon’s leadership.

“Both Oman and Lebanon reaffirmed the consistent Arab position calling for an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They underscored the importance of reinforcing Arab solidarity and upholding the principles of state sovereignty, good neighbourliness and international law.

“General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic expressed his profound gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Omani government, and the people of Oman for their gracious hospitality and warm reception, extending his sincere wishes for the Sultanate of Oman’s continued progress and prosperity under its wise leadership.”
