The Sultanate of Oman took part in the Universal Periodic Review of human rights, held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Deputy Head of the Sultanate of Oman’s Mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva participated in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The Deputy Head of Mission visited the pavilions of the sister GCC countries.

The Omani Human Rights Committee organised an event at the Palais of Nations in Geneva to present the Omani human rights experience and to highlight its role in the promotion and protection of human rights. The event also aimed to open avenues of dialogue with international partners, and to exchange best practice and experiences with international institutions and bodies concerned

Mohammed bin Mirza, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the UN and other organisations in Geneva , attended a diplomatic briefing organised by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on preparations for the convening of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

Oman’s Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, Mahmoud bin Hamad bin Nasser Alhasani, presented his credentials as Non-resident Ambassador to the Principality of Liechtenstein to Hereditary Prince Alois in the capital, Vaduz. The Ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Head of State, Prince Hans-Adam II.

They exchanged views on the repercussions of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the necessity of an immediate ceasefire.
