The session convened to discuss developments in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Hamad Alhajri, representing the Sultanate of Oman,  took part in Jeddah in the senior officials’ preparatory meeting for the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The meeting reviewed the situation in the Federal Republic of Somalia and the implications of Israel’s recognition of the so-called Somaliland.

Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, took part in the emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent representatives. The meeting condemned the Israeli recognition of the so called “Somaliland”. During

Oman stressies the importance of respecting the principles of international law.

The message was handed over by the envoy of the Somali President when he met Oman’s Foreign Minister.

The Foreign Ministry statement reiterated Oman’s condemnation of violence in all its forms.
