Oman–UK Joint Working Group convenes in Muscat

The 18th meeting of the Oman UK Joint Working Group was held in Muscat, co-chaired by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and Stephen Doughty, UK Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The meeting reviewed cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom and ways to strengthen and expand it in areas of mutual interest.

Discussions covered opportunities to benefit from British expertise and experience in education development, vocational training and sport, as well as ways to boost tourism and increase cultural exchanges and participation between the two countries.

Oman–UK Joint Working Group convenes in Muscat

The meeting also exchanged views on regional and international issues, particularly current developments in the region and Oman’s efforts to find diplomatic solutions to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, with the aim of reducing tensions and promoting security and stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by Dr Liane Saunders, UK Ambassador to Oman, Foreign Ministry officials and representatives of relevant government entities.
