Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi met Yvette Cooper, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs at the Foreign Office in London.
The meeting reaffirmed the strength of the strategic partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom and a commitment to further deepen cooperation across the political, economic, cultural and scientific fields.
The Ministers exchanged views on the latest regional developments and discussed ways to strengthen preventive diplomacy. They also exchanged views on how to enhance coordination and consensus in order to contain regional risks and to advance efforts to promote de-escalation and dialogue in pursuit of peace.
They also discussed safeguarding maritime security and freedom of navigation to ensure the uninterrupted flow of global supply chains and trade, in line with international law.
The Ministers affirmed the importance of building on the longstanding partnership between Oman and the United Kingdom, based on foundations of mutual trust and respect.
They agreed to continue close coordination on issues of common interest in order to strengthen constructive cooperation and to support regional and international stability.
The meeting was attended by Badr Almantheri, Oman’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom; Liane Saunders, the UK’s Ambassador to Oman, and officials from both countries.
Commenting on the meeting on the X social media platform, Sayyid Badr described the discussions as valuable, and said that they reaffirmed the strong Oman UK partnership and a shared commitment to regional security.
“Amid heightened tensions, cooperation and preventive diplomacy are vital. We will continue working together for de-escalation, peace, and prosperity,” he added.
